Think the bottom sparrow is either in need of a facelift or is wearing a mask 🙂 but I have learned from this…
Hopefully the next sparrow painted will be better….
The sparrows are always fascinated by this old clay bank. I think they gather spider webs for their nests as well as insects to eat. I saw a yellowhammer on the bank the other day but didn’t have my camera… Murphy’s law.
A busy day over at Whangarei yesterday, and another one coming up today, so no poetry written! Bert the staffie had a great time at doggy day care, had to have a bath when he got home, and is exhausted today…(makes two of us really)
in the paddock
the harsh cry and whir
of a cock pheasant
startles the horse
Russia is bombing
the Syrian opposition
claiming the airspace
in the nikau palms
and a wood pigeon
plunders the loquats
on our deck
a twice-chewed bone
that even the ants ignore
the dog sighs
and turns over
spring, it’s all about

Not sure what these little sparrows were after – I suspect spider webs, as I’ve often seen them collecting webs from under the eaves during the nesting season. We had a good thunder storm last night.
