ENDURANCE

May 28, 2017 by Maureen Sudlow

WINTER WATER

May 24, 2016 by Maureen Sudlow

The weather’s off and on again today, but we managed to get out for a short walk…

always something when
you are walking in winter

patterns on the rice-grass
and a fisherman doing wheelies
up the wild river

and always

TIME PASSING…

May 22, 2016 by Maureen Sudlow

If those posts could speak
stories of old river boats

ghosts of long-gone kauri
and the men who rafted them

downstream with the tide

gum-diggers and sailors
long gone in the mists and mud

and the tide still
going out

FROM THE MAKER’S HAND

February 29, 2016 by Maureen Sudlow

this morning the gift
of a Heron’s harsh call
soft colour of a butterfly
resting

morning sun on the river
coolness of dew
on the tall rice-grass

blue-washed sky
after the rain has passed

FULL MOON RISING

October 30, 2015 by Maureen Sudlow

full moon, and the river running high
butting under the wharf
where the old boards creak
and the rice-grass drowns in the tide
