beauty can often
stay hidden from our sight
when we focus on the darkness
of the trees

but when our vision
broadens, just sometimes
we catch a glimpse
of what really is

Still haven’t been able to capture those elusive Eastern Rosellas…

…did you see his tail?  The blackbird is much more obliging.

not to mention my friendly Kereru…

four photographs

A male pheasant was stalking up the far side of the neighbours paddock this morning, so I grabbed my camera, more in hope than in anger – but you only get one chance.  The minute he spotted me he was off!  When I looked at this photo I noticed that it was probably the blackbird who startled him first – and I also noticed he’d left behind one of his feathers in the long grass.  I had my zoom on full extension for this so I’m lucky the only shot I was able to get was at least in focus.

pheasant 001and here’s a puzzle for you – see if you can spot the blackbird and the feather 🙂
