QUADRILLE FOR D’VERSE POETS

SEASONS

honey, steeped in sunlight
lightening winter’s drab,
reminder of warmer times
warmer climes
where the bees still gather
the sweetness of flowers
and the rivers run
without us, on their journey
to the sea
and sadness becomes
a distant memory
from the past

  1. Maureen,
Brilliant twist on the multiple meanings on “d’verse” … LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it and would love to steal this with your permission should the occasion ever arise. (credit would of course be given).
I can also agree that the “rivers run without us” is an inspired line. One for me to also remember when our summer comes around…

  2. This is absolutely stunning, Maureen! ❤️ I love “honey, steeped in sunlight lightening winter’s drab.” Wow! 😀

  3. I love the entwining of seasons and emotions as the bee takes center stage here. “honey, steeped in sunlight” is such an inviting opening. Made me long for the warmer temps of summer yet the poem spoke to me about acceptance and hope.
