  1. You have answered your question. It’s because of the remembering. I think holidays stand out so clearly in our memory that we associate things from our past with any holiday occurring at that time. Sad times come to mind during future holidays, but often happy times come back too, and we compare today to then, and realize those times and some of those people, are gone. This is a beautiful acknowledgement and a touching photo.

  2. So much expectation is bound to create some disappointment. I also miss those who made my Christmas past … Mom and Dad, other family. I think the trick is to consider this a good time for recollection and a time for returning to basic values.
