this morning the gift
of a Heron’s harsh call
soft colour of a butterfly
resting

morning sun on the river
coolness of dew
on the tall rice-grass

blue-washed sky
after the rain has passed

  1. I always love your poems, but I must tell you how much I enjoy the photographs. There are so many birds and plants I don’t know simply because they are unique to your part of the world. Some of the names are wonderful, and oh, the birds…what variety you have. I’ve been to NZ but only once. You have such a glorious place to live.
