  1. This poem reminds me of visiting my Aunt Lavinia in her home when I was a child. A big old comfortable house on a country road. A grandfather clock ticking away in the living room, Taffy the reddish chestnut-colored cocker spaniel snoring in her basket under the table in the kitchen. Smells of baking pies, fresh coffee. Outside the trees swayed and whispered in the summer breeze, or rattled in the cold, biting wind of winter. Inside, time stood still.
