PALM SUNDAY

A mob’s the same in any age
fickle, shouting, filled with rage.
Ready to love, ready to hate
they welcomed Jesus at the gate
waving palms, Hosannas loud
a surging, eager, hopeful crowd…

who hung him from a cross…

Palm Sunday

‘so they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, shouting, “Hosanna!  Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord – ”
John 12:13

CALIFORNIAN CUZZIES

foraging along the fence-line
a quiver of quails
in grey morning coats
and feathered fascinators
creating small dust bowls
among the dried grass
reaching the bushes
in staccato dashes

– a heap of Californian Quails out by the fence last night.  If you look closely at that first photo you’ll see the bushes are full of them.  Hard to catch though – they move in quick darts..
