This photo by my lovely daughter is a perfect example of a glacial valley, where once the ice extended down to the sea. Often called ‘hanging valleys’.

Rain showers sweep through the harbour, and I am captivated by the high-pitched whine of the wind through the ropes and masts. No wonder the old sailors claimed to have heard the mermaids singing on the rocks. The fishing boats are snugged against the dock, waiting out the weather.
