In a month we’ve only had 12mm of rain…
dying grass
reclaimed
by hungry dust
beneath drooping trees
birds flock
to the false promise
of the old bird bath
white-eyes, fantails
sparrows and wood pigeons
equalized by drought
in the paddock
horses stand
motionless

Thanks for that – I look forward to reading them all. Where we are is usually pretty good rainfall so we’re really noticing it
Love the horses. The lack of rain is getting desperate isn’t it? Do you have rain water tanks?
Yes – but they’re empty now. luckily we’re also on town supply
Those horses really personify the heat and dryness. We are dry too thanks to the recent gales and now really hot weather but we have had a bit more rain than you folks. It is hard to see everything so parched.
Yes, I guess we’re usually spoiled up here – plenty of sunshine AND rain. Can’t really complain though, looking at those dreadful floods in Queensland
